Thursday, September 17

This morning,  we went to “Center Point”, the huge Sydney tower, which is about 800′ high.  We couldn’t see the bottom of the tower, because it was under construction and all enclosed.  The elevators did NOT have a view as we ascended and decended, whereas the Space Needle you have a view the entire trip up and down.

After leaving Center Point, we went back to Paddy’s Market, the huge shopping area which is much like the Fantastic Indoor SwapMeet in Las Vegas – hundreds of individual vendors selling just about anything and everything that is legal.  We went back with the mission of buying more polo shirts for family Christmas presents.  We were successful!!!

Above Paddy’s, there is a multi-level shopping center.  We went to the food court and shared some Portugese chicken, then went back to our hotel.  I was not feeling very good, so I took a nap for an hour, while Jean Ann was working on the computer.  After a brief nap, I felt much better so we took a taxi to the Sydney Opera House just to check it out up close.  I bought a very colorful multi-colored sweater made of genuine Australian Merino wool and Jean Ann bought a colorful neck scarf.

After spending some time at the Opera House, we went back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.  Some of Jean Ann’s University staff were attending a seminar in Sydney, so Jean Ann set it up to meet them for drinks and dinner at their hotel.  Jean Ann wanted me to meet them and they wanted to meet me.  It was a very casual and pleasant time.
